Is God’s Protection Penetrable?

One of the amazing things about God’s Word is that you can take one verse, and learn many different things from it! Below is an excerpt from a devotion I wrote on 1LightforGod.net, My Refuge And Fortress. This blog, however, we will look at how we can see that His protection cannot be penetrated!

Psalm 91:1

English Standard Version (ESV)

My Refuge and My Fortress

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
Such an amazing verse! In the first part of this verse, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High…” refers to us–those who are His children. Those who seek shelter from the evils of this world...

Let Your Light Shine

Shine Bright For God bright-blue

On April 24, 2013, I was blessed with the opportunity to speak in the high school service at Crossgates Baptist Church. As Christians, we are called to let our light shine. Here is the audio of what I said:

I challenge you. Let your light shine to show others the path to the cross.

We Have A Problem

Shine Bright For God bright-blue

As Christians, we have a problem. We are not living as a Christian should! Yes, some are, but as a majority, we are not. Well, since we are talking about letting our light shine, what does that mean?

When you are told to let your light shine (the light given to you by Christ), this means to live in a way that shows everyone around you who you are, what you believe in, and Who you serve. In the first part of Matthew 7:16 it tells us, “They will be known by their fruit.” Live in a way that those around you can see Christ through you. Illuminate the path to Him.

Back to the subject. We have a problem. This is a major problem that has been happening for far too long. Like I said in the second sentence of this post, we are not living as a Christian should!

We have to live and walk in the light...

Currently Under Construction

under construction

I would like to start out by apologizing to you. I have told you I would be releasing three articles per week, and I have not done so for a long time. I thought about posting and letting you know what was going on, and realized I never did. So what’s this about being ‘under construction’?

under construction

What’s under construction? This website. I decided to leave it up so you can take advantage of the resources already here. Soon I will have a new website for you with an entire new look. It would be out first, but I put you first. I am not only working on my website, but will also soon be releasing a website design for a customer and friend that’s focus is helping women with their relationship with God. I will be sure to post again and let you know.

Some of you may also know about my book. weShine: Foun...

The New You and The Great Race

new you great race

As with many of the books of the New Testament, Paul is writing a letter to a church. This book is the letter Paul wrote to the church at Colossi. Let’s look at the beginning of chapter 3.

In the first part of chapter 3, Paul speaks of the new you. This new you he speaks of only appears after you surrender your life to Christ. When you accept Christ’s salvation, the old you is gone, and the new you takes its place (2 Corinthians 5:17).

One who is saved from death by the Lord Jesus Christ Should not be focused on things of this world. Worldly pleasures should mean nothing to a Christian. Instead, focus on Christ and His Will for your life.

Paul speaks an enormous truth which many will not accept. He is simply saying one thing...

There Is No Need To Worry

worry

As I was reading through Philippians chapter 4, a certain verse jumped out at me, which reminded me of another verse in a completely different part of the Bible. I know many people struggle with worry, so today we are going to look at worry.

I mentioned this above, but let’s look into it further. As I was reading, a verse that Paul wrote really stuck out. This verse was about worry. Let’s look at Philippians 4:6, “Do not be anxious (do not worry) about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” (Parenthesis and words inside added)

Paul wrote that we should not worry. He knew, and wrote this here, that we don’t have to worry. The reason for this is because God will give us what we need...

Victory Through Jesus

victory

This post was inspired by the pastor of my church, Bro. David Jett. The inspiration was received during the phrase, “We can live in Victory through Jesus.” Let’s look at more below.

Whether you have had a really bad day and really need some good news, or have had a good day and think you are okay. I have some good news for you. Once you are saved, you can begin living by letting Christ live through you. When we completely surrender our lives to the One Who already has the victory, then we live a victorious life.

Let’s look at an example of this. In this example, I will also give you a little bit of what is in my book that is currently being finished (in the section where we discuss spiritual warfare).

You are in a battle...

Choice In Choosing

Choice

Today let’s look at having a choice. I have already written some on this topic with my post Every Person’s Choice, but today 1LightforGod.net released a new devotion by Malinda Williams called Choice in Choosing.

Joshua 24:13-15

‘I have given you a land for which you did not labor; and cities which you did not build and you dwell in them; you eat of the vineyards and olive groves which you did not plant.’ “Now therefore, fear the Lord, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt...

5 Things Christians Should Be Doing

In the last post, we looked at our unity. We are the body of Christ, and should be acting as if we are. In this post, we will look with greater detail at what this means. For those of you who have not read Friday’s post, simply click here. In that post, we discussed how we are the body of Christ, and looked at the song We Are The Body by Casting Crowns.

In this song, five questions are asked, and these are 5 things Christians should be doing:

  1. Why aren’t His arms reaching?
  2. Why aren’t His hands healing?
  3. Why aren’t His words teaching?
  4. Why aren’t His feet going?
  5. Why is His love not showing?

1) Why aren’t His arms reaching?

Jesus was constantly reaching out to people. Whether they were injured, covered in sin, or self-righteous, He always reached out to help them...

Learn To Use Your Calling

Your calling

You have probably heard this before, but hear it with clear ears, and read it with fresh eyes. Do not reject this because you have heard it before. Pray that God shows you truth and gives you a fresh mind.

God has called you into a service that only you can do. You are unique, and God has a plan for you. Let’s look at an example. Say you are a fry cook at a fast food restaurant. There are thousands if not millions of others that have the same job. How is it special?

This position (job) is special because you are the one doing it! God has placed you where you are for a reason. Even if it is something sinful that got you there.

This is yet another amazing thing about God. He will take our mistakes and make them into something good...
