Platform Launch Team
Early last week, I came across an article on Michael Hyatt’s blog which asked the reader to join the Platform Launch Team. Only 100 were to be accepted. I realized the significance of the opportunity, so I applied. Early Tuesday morning I checked my email and was astounded to find that I was accepted!
In case you do not know who he is, Michael Hyatt is the former CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishers, but chose to step down from the position last year to pursue writing full-time. He is not absent from Thomas Nelson, however, because he remains a chairman in the company. He has built his own platform from the ground up over the past eight years, and now has over 400,000 views per month, over 200,000 subscribers to his blog, and also more than 100,000 followers on Twitter.
As the former CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishers, Michael posted that they have rejected authors who have good work, but do not have the platform to sell enough books. He felt everyone deserved a chance, so he wrote this book (Platform) to guide those authors in setting up their platform, or following, and make them known more widely. The best part about this is that it is not just for authors. This can be applied to anyone who wants their name known including: Businesses, Musicians, Authors, and any other person who wants to be known a bigger audience. I fully recommend this book, but wait! Don’t buy this book until the week of May 21st, because that is the week we will attempt to get Michael and his book on the New York Times best sellers list.
In the early days of this month (May), Michael started taking submissions from those who wanted to be a part of the launch team for his book Platform. There were well over 700 people who submitted their information (764 according to his post here), but only 100 of them were selected to become a part of this team. I am excited to announce that I was one of the one hundred who were accepted.
